Unlike a spa treatment, advanced foot care focuses on the medical health of the feet, particularly for individuals with complex conditions that put them at risk for infection or amputation. This would include: Clinical Assessment: The nurse evaluates blood flow (circulation), nerve sensation (checking for neuropathy), and skin integrity. Specialized Tools: Nurses use sterilized, medical-grade instruments—including high-speed rotary files (burrs)—to safely treat thickened nails and deep calluses. Medical Focus: It is specifically designed to manage high-risk feet, such as those belonging to patients with diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, or arthritis. Core Services Provided include: Nail Management-Precise trimming of ingrown, thickened (onychogryphosis), or fungal nails. Skin Care: Professional reduction of painful corns and calluses. Wound Prevention-Identifying early signs of ulcers or infections before they become emergencies. Education: Teaching patients about proper footwear, daily self-inspection, and moisture management to prevent future complications.
